A tribute to 3 outstanding jazz divas: Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae and Sarah Vaughan, with vocals by Sheila Ford and the Bruce Swaim Quartet.
Ella Fitzgerald, known as “Lady Ella”, the “Queen of Scat” and the “First Lady of Song”, had a vocal range spanning three octaves. Her purity of tone, phrasing and intonation, made her the most popular female jazz singer in the United States.
Carmen McRae was an American jazz singer, composer, pianist and actress considered one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century with her behind-the-beat jazz phrasing.
Sarah Vaughan, nicknamed “Sassy” and “The Divine One’ was an American jazz singer with one of the most wondrous voices and a contralto vocal range.
