Music from the Crooked Road

Wednesday, April 21, 2010 • 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: $40
Show Day and At The Door: $45

Winding for over 200 miles across the mountains, ridges and valleys of southwestern Virginia, the Crooked Road passes through some of the most musical places on earth. The “Music from the Crooked Road” tour celebrates the living musical culture of this region, which today not only survives, but thrives. The evening will consist of bluegrass mountain gospel and flatfoot dance. The outstanding artists participation (Sammy Shelor, Wayne Henderson, Amber Collins & No Speed Limit, Kirk Satphin & Eddie Bond, the Whitetop Mountain Band, and Elizabeth LaPrelle) link the past, present and future of these deep American traditions.

The Music from the Crooked Road: Mountain Music of Virginia tour is produced by the National Council for the Traditional Arts (www.ncta.net) and is presented in partnership with the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (www.midatlanticarts.org). Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art (www.nea.gov), the Virginia Tourism Corporation and The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Music Trail (www.crookedroad.org) . This tour has been designated an NEA American Masterpieces program representing the best of American cultural heritage and legacy.
